WE CLOSED!

Just checking in its been a while, we have closed on our home and we are now decorating. Thought we would post a few pictures,there are more pictures to come. Here is the Morning Room view from the kitchen.

AT LAST!!!

Closing is on wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Wow what a process and it is finally coming to fruition. Etta James can say it much better than I, the Milan  is almost occupied and our worrying days are gone AT LAAAST! LOL! I thank everyone for sharing your stories, we need to start our post move in Ryan Homes Blogs. Its going to be great to see how everyone fills up their homes.

A FEW BUMPS IN THE ROAD !!!

Our first bumps in the process have taken place. We were set to close on the 11th, however we had an inspection prior to closing. Needless to say the inspector found some minor items that could have caused problems later in the life of the home. We also had an issue with our island, we noticed that the island is really close to the dishwasher making it hard to get in between the island if the dishwasher door is open.We looked at a couple of our neighbors Milan's and noticed there was about a 1 1/2 foot difference in their islands and ours. Our PM who has been great told us that our island was set to specifications. The reason for the difference is as follows, their islands were set for the distance of a gourmet island hence the extra space. Our PM made the change for us and moved the island even though Ryan was correct on this one. We are set for reinspection on Tuesday, and hope to get a clear for closing. To all the Milan builders you may want to take note if you are getting a regular island, see if they will set your island like it was a gourmet type. Glad our neighbors allowed us to look at their islands. Wish us luck, and thanks to Mommy Esq. we ended up per our lender getting the inspection, set us back but it feels good knowing that there will not be any issues that were not addressed.

One thing we found out and I hope those that are still early in the process will take note of, Ryan does not put lighting in the bedrooms, if you dont buy a lighting package all you will get will be light switches.You have to get pre wires otherwise you will have to use lamps.

Went by our home today , the interior is coming together all the doors are in place, and there was a second coat of paint on the walls.Also the tile in master bath is almost finished, things are moving along rather swiftly. On a side note a truck was out front spraying in the insulation in the attic of house. I talked with the guy that was running the insulation machine, he said of all the builders he does this for, Ryan uses the top end insulation. None of the other major builders here in Charlotte use that grade insulation, I forget what he told me about the specs,they run a hose into the attic and pump the insulation in. Latest picture of the exterior, and the four houses in our culdesac that are in different stages of the building process. So far there is a Martineque on one side,A Milan next door, differerent elevation, and a Kirkgate at the end of our street.
